The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture announced another round of inspections related to Governor Tom Wolf’s orders prohibiting indoor dining until January 4th, and there are no new Indiana County restaurants on that list.
On Tuesday, the department released data related to the Covid-19 restaurant enforcement actions from December 21st to December 27th. During that period, nine Indiana County restaurants were inspected but there were no complaint-driven inspections in Indiana County, no Covid-19 related warnings issued and no restaurants in Indiana County were closed. There were two restaurants inspected in both Armstrong and Westmoreland Counties after authorities received Covid-19-related complaints, while Cambria and Clearfield counties had one reported Covid-19-related complaint each. Those investigations resulted in the closure of one restaurant in Armstrong County and one in Westmoreland County, but the names of those restaurants have not been released.
Last week, two Crouse’s Café locations, one in Indiana and the other in Shelocta, were shut down due to violations of Wolf’s Covid-19 order prohibiting in-person dining. While Secretary of Health Dr. Rachael Levine announced earlier this week that the restrictions that affect restaurants, movie theaters, gyms and entertainment facilities will not be lifted early for the New Year’s holiday, officials will be looking at the same type of data they’ve considered throughout the pandemic in deciding if the restrictions should remain in effect or be lifted. Levine says those include the number of new cases per 100,000 as well as the percent positivity rate.
