With the recent severe winter weather impacting Indiana County and the rest of the state, the Wolf Administration is advising residents to remain cautious when traveling.
Governor Tom Wolf said in a press release that the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency, or PEMA, is coordinating with all counties to ensure all safety needs are met, especially during the current holiday season. PEMA Director Randy Padfield reminds Pennsylvania residents that “if you must travel, make sure you have emergency supplies in your vehicle if roadways are impassible.”
The National Weather Service also reminds residents that flash floods and river flooding can result from backed storm drains. This could result in freezing roadways or power outages from saturated grounds and gusty winds. With this is mind, residents are urged to monitor changing weather patterns.
Road conditions can be monitored through the 511PA mobile app, calling 5-1-1, or by following regional Twitter alerts at 511PA.com.
