Baseball Prospectus has published its annual list of the top prospects for each organization, but this year’s list might come with an asterisk.
The publication normally uses its own outside analyst to compile the list, but this year it turned to Tim Williams of Pirates Baseball Network.
Williams’ Pirates top 10 are:
- Third baseman Ke’Bryan Hayes
- Shortstop Oneil Cruz
- Second baseman Nick Gonzales
- Pitcher Quinn Priester
- Shortstop Liover Peguero
- Pitcher Cody Bolton
- Pitcher Tahnaj Thomas
- Pitcher Brennan Malone
- Shortstop/second baseman Ji-Hwan Bae
- Pitcher Carmen Mlodzinski
That list is quite different from the latest top 10 prospects list of MLB.Com, which features Gonzalez, last year’s top draft choice, at Number 1, followed by Hayes, Cruz, Priester, Peguero, 2018 top draft pick outfielder Travis Swaggerty, Malone, Mlodzinski, and outfielders Sammy Siani and Jared Oliva.
