Aside from the crashes reported by Indiana County 911, state police have been helping many motorists over the last 24 hours as the snowstorm made its way through the area.
State Police public information officer Cliff Greenfield said that since noon yesterday, members of Troop A of the state police assisted 97 motorists with a disabled vehicle in the four-county area, which includes large parts of Indiana and Westmoreland Counties, along with all of Cambria and Somerset Counties. They also investigated 43 crashes in that time period.
For Indiana County, Greenfield reported that troopers investigated 10 crashes and helped 49 motorists with disabled vehicles yesterday.
Trooper Cliff Greenfield advised people that wintery driving conditions can get worse at night.
Greenfield added that if you have to travel today, be sure to take your time and keep an emergency kit in your vehicle.
