As the Coronavirus pandemic continues, the number of cases continues to multiply daily, and that is having an impact on paramedics at Citizen’s Ambulance Service.
Citizen’s is seeing the impact daily for Covid-19, as they are making multiple runs a day that are connected with Covid-19, whether those cases are positive cases or probable cases. Director of Operations Randy Thomas said that the ambulance service has seen the number of calls grow exponentially since the start of November.
Paramedic Crew Chief Karen Chichy talked about what she and her fellow paramedics are going through, and while initially they saw a lot of cases in group living areas, the virus became more widespread, as they have gone to private residences without outside resources. Chichy said that even in the rural areas, it has been a sobering experience.
Chichy also talked about how tiring the constant barrage of covid cases can be on the mental level.
Citizens is asking everyone to continue to remain patient as they continue to deal with pandemic-related issues in order to protect themselves and patients from the spread of Covid-19.
