Today marks the start of Governor Tom Wolf’s mitigation efforts in response to the recent uptick in COVID-19 cases across the state. Wolf announced in a press conference this week that restrictions will change how some businesses operate and will limit the number of occupants in a business to reduce the risk of spreading the virus.
These measures will bring multiple changes, including the closure of casinos and theaters, the postponement of scholastic athletics to early January and a maximum limit of 50 people in businesses such as salons and barber shops. Also, gyms and fitness centers will only be allowed to hold outdoor classes if they are able.
Restaurants will not be allowed to offer dine-in services and will be limited to carry-out and delivery options only. However, local restaurateurs are scheduled to meet on Monday to discuss these restrictions. This meeting will be led by owner of Bruno’s, Danny Della Penna, who was critical of Gov. Wolf’s restrictions after the recent shutdown in March hurt local eating and drinking establishments.
Penna will join Todd Marino on Indiana in the Morning at 8:10 a.m. on Monday to discuss this effort, and restaurant and small business owners wishing to take part are asked to call Della Penna at 724-422-9217.
