State police are asking people to check in on their neighbors and let them know if they feel their welfare is in danger.
In an announcement released Tuesday, Troopers say they remind residents to check on their neighbors, especially if they are isolated or vulnerable, and it can be as simple as a phone call. If someone feels that there may be a problem over the welfare of a friend, family member or neighbor, troopers can conduct a welfare check or refer the request to the law enforcement agency that works in their jurisdiction to perform that check.
Since March 1st, members of Troop A, which covers Indiana, Cambria, Somerset and Westmoreland Counties, have performed a total of 2,334 welfare checks in the four-county region.
To contact the state police in Indiana, you can call them at 724-357-1960, or you can call 911 if it is an emergency.
