In a news conference this afternoon, Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf told residents that the state’s health care system could be “overwhelmed” if coronavirus cases continue to rise and new measures could be undertaken soon if the spike continues.
More than 5,400 coronavirus patients have been hospitalized. Statewide, the rate of positive tests for the coronavirus has risen to 14.4 percent, up from 11.7 percent last week.
“Pennsylvania’s situation has become more dire,” Wolf said. “COVID-19 is spreading dangerously, everywhere in the commonwealth.”
Wolf said decisions on other steps would be made “in the next few days.”
