Sentencing is scheduled for today for a Punxsutawney man who pleaded guilty but mentally ill to arson and reckless burning in three separate cases and for drug-related crimes in a fourth.
Troy James Kromer, 53, set three fires in 2018 and 2019 in North Mahoning Township: A pickup truck fire along Smith Road, a structure fire on Coolspring Road, and another pickup fire between Smith and Coolspring Roads. He pleaded to one count of arson with danger of death or injury, two counts of reckless burning or exploding an automobile, place or property having a value that exceeds $5000, and to a misdemeanor charge of possession or use of drug paraphernalia. Each of the pleas were entered in September.
Revocation hearings are also set for today for an Indiana man who was apprehended earlier this year on felony burglary charges in Clymer. Ian Cordale Buterbaugh, 19, of Indiana was apprehended in February of this year on a felony warrant for a burglary that happened in January. Police said at the time he broke into a building on Willow Avenue and took several items that he then tried to sell. The other cases that his revocation hearings will focus on are DUI cases.
