On Monday night, the Indiana School Board voted to approve a resolution that will keep any tax increase below the state-mandated index.
The index for the Indiana School District is 3.7 percent and district business manager Jared Cronauer said that if taxes were increased to the limit, it would cost the average taxpayer an additional $75 dollars, but Board President Walter Schroth said that he would want to see no tax increases if possible. The budget is due by the end of the fiscal year in June of 2021.
In other business, the board authorized Bowman Land Surveying to complete a survey of Eisenhower Elementary School and a proposal from Buchart Horn Architect at a cost of $15,000 for programming, review and planning for possible work at Eisenhower. District superintendent Michael Vuckovich said that the project could address some security concerns at the building.
During the reorganization meeting prior to the regular board meeting, the board re-elected Walter Schroth and Julia Trimarchi-Cuccaro as board president and vice-president respectively.
