Homer-Center School District also announced its plans for the schools at its reorganization meeting last night.
District Superintendent Curtis Whitesel announced to the board that the return to in-person education will continue as planned, with the district re-opening on Monday, December 7th. Whitesel said that the board felt that a return to in-person instruction is best.
Per state regulations, the threshold of Covid-19 cases in the district’s buildings has been lowered to two positive cases per building. If that threshold is met or exceeded in either building, that building will be closed for in-person instruction for a minimum of three days and students will use remote learning options for those days.
The district still plans on using the remote learning model from January 4th to the 8th, which is the first week of school after the holiday break.
The board also held its reorganization vote last night, with Michael Bertig unanimously re-elected president of the board and Dr. Christa Pontani-Palmer elected the new board vice president by an 8-1 vote, with one vote for former board vice-president Vicki Smith.
The board will have its regular meeting on December 17th.
