In a special meeting Monday night, the Indiana School Board unanimously voted to return to the prior educational model in place before the district was closed to in-person classes on November 23rd.
The plan will allow some at-risk students to return for in-person classes on December 2nd. On the 7th, grades K-5 will return to in-person instruction five days a week, with sixth graders going back to in-person instruction four days a week and the fifth day being remote instruction, and the high school resuming its hybrid schedule. Superintendent Michael Vuckovich said that the district’s health and safety plan is actually more stringent than the recommendations from the PA Department of Health.
The board also unanimously approved Vuckovich and board president Walter Schroth to sign off on the attestation form to be sent to the PA Department of Education saying they will abide by their educational model and adhere to the terms of the form. The superintendent is also authorized to take any actions required to comply with the requirements related to the attestation including amendments to the district health and safety plan if needed.
The next board meeting will be December 7th, which will be the district reorganization meeting.
