The Indiana School Board will hold a special meeting on Monday, November 30th to deal with “the recent changes to the Governor’s orders in regards to the Covid-19 pandemic,” according to the district website.
According to the tentative agenda, the board will recommend amending the health and safety plan to reflect the shift to a remote learning model in the form of real-time, synchronous, virtual instruction that will continue through December 4th and a return to the hybrid model on December 7th. The board will also approve submitting an attestation form saying that the district will follow all guidelines to prevent the spread of Covid-19, and resubmit that attestation on December 7th to continue to operate in the district’s hybrid model. Also, Superintendent Michael Vuckovich will continue to monitor active Covid-19 cases in the schools to determine the safest mode of education for the district.
The meeting is set for 6:00 PM and will be held virtually. The meeting notice can be found on the district website, www.iasd.cc
Last Monday, Governor Tom Wolf and State Secretary of Health Dr. Rachael Levine announced further advisories and orders for gatherings. The state recommended that schools go to remote learning, but they are leaving it up to the individual districts to make that decision. Levine said that schools in counties with substantial community spread levels will now have to provide an “attestation form” that would outline the safety procedures in place. Schools are also required to notify the state if they will go fully remote or if they will continue with in-person education. Schools that choose not to get the state certification must move to remote instruction and cancel all extracurricular activities for as long as the county remains at the substantial transmission level.
