Indiana County’s school districts will be practicing a variety of back-to-school models after the Thanksgiving break, some in-person and some remote.
The Penns Manor School District has posted its plans for a return to in-person instruction starting on Tuesday at both the high school and elementary school, and has reiterated its face-covering policy. The advisory says that chin face shields that rest on the chin are not acceptable because they leave too much of an open gap exposing the nose and mouth. “Acceptable face shields begin at the forehead covering the face down to the chin,” the district says, reminding all who wear them that they should wash their face covering every day.
The school district says there are no reported active cases at the elementary school and as of Tuesday, when school resumes, there will be no active cases at the high school, assuming no new cases are identified. There will be fifteen high school students still on quarantine on Tuesday due to contact tracing of the most recent positive test result or due to having been in contact with someone outside the school who tested positive.
Penns Manor says students may transition to virtual at-home learning if one or both of the buildings experience new positive cases as defined by the Department of Health regulations for school buildings with less than 500 students.
