Cornerback Joe Haden did not practice yesterday for the Steelers, as they prepared for tomorrow night’s game against the Ravens. Haden hurt his knee Sunday against Jacksonville. His status for the game is not known, although he did return to the game Sunday after he was injured.
JuJu Smith-Schuster was limited after suffering a foot injury, and quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, with a sore quad, and defensive end Cam Heyward, who has a tender ankle, were also limited. They were not listed as injured on the official team report. Linebacker Jayrone Elliott returned from illness but injured running backs Jaylen Samuels and Trey Edmunds were out.
The Steelers have activated tight end Vance McDonald from the reserve/COVID-19 list and also activated tight end Kevin Rader from the practice squad. They placed tight end Zach Gentry on injured reserve with a season-ending knee injury, and they signed linebacker/long snapper Christian Kuntz to the practice squad.
Big Ben says he anticipates the usual Ravens-Steelers battle tomorrow night, no matter who is or is not available for the game.
Linebacker TJ Watt says even without top running backs, J.K. Dobbins and Mark Ingram, the Ravens still have a high-powered offense.
Defensive end Cam Heyward says the Steelers’ will have their work cut out for them, starting with Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson.
The Ravens yesterday placed linebacker Pernell McPhee on the reserve/COVID-19 list. They canceled practice following more positive tests within the organization.
As of now, tomorrow night’s game is still on the schedule despite the Ravens’ covid problems.
Former Steelers Hines Ward and Alan Faneca are among the 25 modern-era semifinalists for the Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2021. Faneca has made it to the finalist category the last five years while Ward has never made it past the semis. Peyton Manning, Charles Woodson, and Calvin Johnson are among the first-year eligible players on the list. Players need 80-percent approval from the Selection Committee to be elected. The Class of 2021 will be revealed during the week leading up to Super Bowl LV in Tampa, Florida.
