Gas prices are continuing to go down as we approach the Thanksgiving holiday.
Triple-A reports that the average cost of a gallon of gas in Pennsylvania as of this morning is $2.45 a gallon, which is down a penny from last week, and down two cents from last month at this time and 34 cents lower than last year on this date. The main reason for the continued downward trend in gas prices is due to the lack of travel over the Thanksgiving Holiday. A recent Triple-A survey reported that 83 percent of Pennsylvanians are staying home for the Thanksgiving holiday, and 40 percent are saying they are not travelling because of the Coronavirus pandemic.
Indiana County’s average cost of a gallon of gas is $2.53 a gallon. Among the surrounding counties, Westmoreland County has the lowest gas price average at $2.36 a gallon. That’s followed by Jefferson County at $2.44 a gallon, Clearfield at $2.50 a gallon, Armstrong county at $2.51 a gallon and Cambria county tied with Indiana at $2.53 a gallon.
In Indiana Borough and White Township, gas prices are ranging from $2.51 a gallon to $2.55 a gallon. Gas prices in Homer City range between $2.51 and $2.54 a gallon, while gas prices in Blairsville and Clymer are holding at $2.51 a gallon.
