Look for the Pirates to make some roster moves today as it’s deadline day for protecting players from being taken in the Rule 5 draft.
Players must be on the 40-man roster in order to be protected, so the Pirates could drop marginal players in order to add top minor league prospects. The team could also decide to drop non-tender candidates such as Trevor Williams and Erik Gonzalez.
