Steelers offensive coordinator Randy Fichtner said yesterday that the team might use fullback Derek Watt more as a blocker for James Conner on Sunday against the Jaguars, in an attempt to help the running game. Watt has missed a lot of time this year because of injuries, but is healthy now and may be able to take pressure off the passing game if he can help the running game.
There were no real changes to the Steelers’ practice participant list yesterday. Cornerback Mike Hilton and nose tackle Isaiah Buggs both put in full practices. Injured running backs Jaylen Samuels and Trey Edmunds remained out and running back Anthony McFarland was at full speed after returning from illness. Linebacker Jayrone Elliott remained out with illness.
It’s a one o’clock kickoff on Sunday in Jacksonville. You’ll hear it beginning with the pregame at noon on WDAD, AM 1450 and FM 100.3
