Pennsylvania Secretary of Health Dr. Rachael Levine will hold a news conference later today where she is expected to announce targeted efforts to control the spread of Coronavirus.
Pennsylvania, like much of the nation, has seen a dramatic spike in the number of Coronavirus cases over the last month or so. As of Monday, the state-wide total of Coronavirus cases was 269,613. Indiana County has seen 1,828 cases of Covid-19, including 395 probable cases as of Monday, along with 25 reported deaths.
State officials have not said what those new targeted mitigation measures are being considered. Currently, a mask mandate is in place for Pennsylvania, along with limits on indoor and outdoor gatherings, and occupancy restrictions at bars and restaurants. In March, Governor Wolf imposed orders that forced schools to close the buildings and switch to alternate forms of education and shut down many businesses with the exception of those deemed non-essential.
The news conference will be held at 1:00 today, and you’ll be able to hear it on WCCS AM 1160 and 101.1 FM. The conference will also be streamed on the PA Health Department’s Facebook page.
