IUP has issued some guidelines concerning the upcoming Thanksgiving break.
The break will be held as scheduled from November 23rd to the 27th, and classes resuming on November 30th. Students are being asked over the next week and a half to limit close contacts to reduce the risk of contracting coronavirus before leaving for the week-long holiday break. This means that students can still take part in on-campus activities but students are to be vigilant in following the health and safety guidelines.
Residence Halls will close on Saturday, November 21st at noon and reopen at 10 AM on the 28th. Students that need housing during the Thanksgiving and December holiday breaks can still apply for “break housing” through the MyIUP/Housing Portal.
As far as coursework after the holiday break, teachers are given the option to complete classwork following the break and final exams via distance learning options. If students are returning to campus after Thanksgiving Break, they are again being advised to be vigilant in following health and safety guidelines and limiting close contacts.
IUP has also announced the shorter breaks that will be taken during the spring semester. This is in lieu of having the traditional week-long break during the Spring 2021 semester. Those dates are:
- February 25th and 26th
- March 13th and 14th
- April 5th and 6th
- April 21
Classes for the spring semester will still start on January 19th and end on May 3rd, and the university will follow the rebalancing plan put in place in the Fall that limits the number of students on-campus.
