The Pirates have named former big league catcher John Baker as their director of coaching and player development. The 39-year-old played seven years in MLB with the Marlins, Padres, and Cubs.
Baker was the MLB Head Applied Mental Skills Coach last season after working in the Cubs’ baseball operations department for five years. GM Ben Cherington says Baker will work with the Bucs’ minor league staff and players.
