The Purchase Line School District says a staff member at the elementary school has tested positive for coronavirus. In a public letter, superintendent Shawn Ford says that following the state Health Department contact tracing protocol, it was determined that there was no exposure to students or staff, so classes will continue as usual. The district says it is closely monitoring the situation and will provide updates if any further steps are necessary.
Meanwhile, United superintendent Barbara Parkins late last week wrote in a public posting that rumors that United would close for Covid-19 are not true. Parkins writes, “At this time, we are NOT closing our schools or changing our instructional model.” She adds that with no insight on future decisions by state officials, United will take appropriate steps, if it is ordered to. She encourages all families to continue to prepare for a transition in case the district is ordered to switch to remote instruction.
