A search for a person on Friday that triggered a lockdown at an Indiana Borough School was successful as the person was found safe.
Indiana Borough Police responded to a home in the area of South 13th and Washington Street at 1:04 PM for a person threatening to do some self-harm. Before they arrived, they learned that the person left the home in an unknown direction on foot. In an abundance of caution, police informed officials at Eisenhower elementary school of what was going on. While no threat was made towards anyone at the school, that triggered a soft lockdown at 1:10 PM and further developments caused the school to go into a hard lockdown.
With the help of Indiana County Sheriffs and IUP Police Department, the person was found and the threat of harm was removed. The lockdown was lifted at 1:35 PM. The investigation is continuing.
