In Indiana County Court today, Judge Thomas Bianco will conduct three motions hearings, including one for a Clearfield County man accused of aggravated assault and DUI.
23-year-old Joseph Vanish III of Madera is charged with aggravated assault with intent to cause injury; two counts of DUI (one of them for a blood-alcohol rate over .16 percent); recklessly endangering another person, and four summary traffic violations. His attorney has filed a writ of habeas corpus in a bid to get the charges dismissed.
Judge Bianco will also hear a motion to suppress evidence filed by 61-year-old Donald Arthur Hawk II of Rossiter, who is charged with possession with intent to deliver, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia. The drugs were found on him after a woman accused him of slapping her in the face. Charges related to the altercation with the woman were dropped.
The judge will also conduct a hearing on an omnibus pretrial motion filed by the attorney for 38-year-old John Pavelchick of Blairsville, who is charged with two counts of harassment and a single count of resisting arrest for an incident in Blairsville on April 1st.
