During their meeting last night, Indiana Borough Council voted against the transfer of a liquor license from outside the municipality to be used at a downtown convenience store.
The license was to go to the Choice Gas Station at 400 Philadelphia Street. As the license was being transferred into the borough from West Wheatfield Township by CAPL Retail, LLC, the license needed borough council’s approval. Prior to the vote, Peter Broad said it wasn’t a matter of if it was appropriate, but it was about bringing another liquor license into the borough that already is over its limit.
The decision came down to a 7-3 vote against allowing the transfer, with Jim McQuown, Gerald Smith and Jonathan Warnock voting in favor of the transfer.
In other business, borough council approved advertising the 2021 Indiana Borough budget, which contains no tax increases. Expenditures come to $6,001,235 with income at $6,001,456. This represents a two percent decrease in both expenditures and income. The budget will be put out on display and will be on the agenda next month.
