The Pirates have declined to pick up the $11 million option on pitcher Chris Archer, instead giving him a $250,000 buyout and making him a free agent.
Archer was 6 and12 with a 4.92 ERA in 33 starts after being traded to Pittsburgh for three of the Pirates’ top prospects in 2018, All-Star outfielder Austin Meadows and pitchers Tyler Glasnow and Shane Baz.
