For the third year in a row, students enrolled in IUP’s cybersecurity program were selected to receive scholarship funds from the Department of Defense.
IUP announced in a press release that more than $630,000 from the department will provide students with full tuition and fees, an annual stipend and funding for books and a laptop. Additionally, students that were selected are guaranteed a position with an agency related with the department for as many years that they receive funding. Students receiving these funds must also complete a summer internship to gain firsthand experience.
To be chosen for this scholarship opportunity, students must complete an extensive application process that is reviewed by IUP faculty members. From there, it is sent to the Department of Defense for consideration.
Since 2018, a total of 18 students have been awarded this scholarship, and students can apply again if this is their first time winning. Out of the nine recipients chosen this year, five are first-year winners and the remaining four are receiving them for the second time.
