IUP Men’s Basketball ranked fifth in preseason poll:
The IUP men’s basketball team received national attention as the Crimson Hawks come out ranked No. 5 by the Basketball Times in its Division 2 preseason poll that came out on Thursday.
IUP is one of four teams from the Atlantic Region, and the only team from the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference to be ranked by the Times. They jon West Liberty (4), Charleston (18) and Fairmont State (20) on the list. It is topped off by West Texas A&M at No. 2 and Northwest Missouri State who comes in at No.1.
After a formidable season last year, IUP reached as high as number 3 nationally, and finished the year ranked sixth in the NABC poll.
Armoni Foster named Preseason All-American:
Also receiving national recognition is IUP junior guard Armoni Foster, as he was named a preseason All-American by the basketball times. Foster had a breakout year during his first year as a starter last year, and is one of 24 preseason All-Americans across Division 2. Foster earned all-region and all-district honors last season, and led the Crimson Hawks in scoring after averaging 19.8 points per game with 15 20-point games and scoring in single digits in two games out of 30 played.
Foster returns to the Crimson Hawks this season, along with guards Dave Morris, Shawndale Jones and forward Ethan Porterfield.
