The high school football season resumes with Week 7 action tonight, some of it playoff and some of it regular season.
The District 6 playoffs kick off with a Class A matchup on WQMU (6:30 airtime) featuring #9 seed Purchase Line at #8 West Shamokin. The two teams met in Week One, with West Shamokin winning, 34-28. The Red Dragons are 2-4 and coming off a loss to Homer Center. West Shamokin is 3-3, following each win this season with a loss the following week, including a home-field loss to Blairsville last Friday.
There is one other District 6 playoff game tonight: AA top seed Bellwood Antis against #5 Bald Eagle. In AA tomorrow, #4 Richland will host #5 Central Cambria.
United will play a non-playoff game tonight at Moshannon Valley.
Tomorrow on WQMU, AA #3 seed Marion Center will host #6 Northern Cambria in a rematch of a game won two weeks ago, 28-7 by the Stingers.
In Class A, the #11 Saltsburg Trojans will play at # 6 Juniata Valley in an internet-only broadcast game with Mark Bertig on the call.
On WLCY, #10 Blairsville, coming off a win last week over West Shamokin, plays #7 Williamsburg at Hollidaysburg.
Penns Manor and Homer Center drew first-round byes in Class A and will not play this weekend.

Two District 6 playoff games have been cancelled because of Covid-19 concerns. Southern Huntingdon forfeited tonight’s scheduled AA game against Cambria Heights, so the Highlanders move on. And last night, Bishop McCort withdrew from its scheduled game against Bishop Guilfoyle, citing “the best interest of their student athletes”. McCort only made the playoffs because Glendale opted out, and Guilfoyle coach Justin Wheeler would not have coached due to exposure to someone who had tested positive. The forfeit means BG will have three weeks off between games.
Congratulations to Homer Center quarterback Ben Schmidt, who last night was named Pennsylvania’s Player of the Week by the readers of PennLive.com. Ben outpolled his closest competitor by 1,510 votes.
In the WPIAL, Indiana plays host to Mars Area tonight, on WDAD.
