Diontae Johnson returned as a full practice participant for the Steelers yesterday after missing last week’s game with a sore back. Guard David DeCastro was limited but did work out.
Following the pattern for the year, Ben Roethlisberger, Maurkice Pouncey, and Stephon Tuitt rested and JuJu Smith-Schuster did not practice to protect his sore knee. Safety Mike Hilton sat out with a shoulder injury and fullback Derek Watt was missing with a sore hamstring.
Roethlisberger talked about the offense yesterday, saying his arm still feels great and he is throwing to a good group of selfless receivers. He also had praise for running back James Conner, who rushed for over 100 yards again on Sunday against the Browns.
Defensive end Cam Heyward said this Sunday’s clash with the undefeated Titans will be a challenge for the Steelers’ defense, which will have to guard against a balanced attack.
The Steelers worked out wide receiver Anthony Johnson yesterday. He was with them in the preseason but was waived/injured and reached an injury settlement with the team on September 4th.
