Steelers Coach Mike Tomlin says his defense will have a tall task on Sunday against the Tennessee Titans huge running back, Derrick Henry. Henry leads the NFL in rushing, with 588 yards in only five games, and is averaging close to 25 carries per game. Tomlin says Henry’s combination of power and speed is “ridiculous.”
One of the key aspects of the Steelers’ approach to stopping Henry will be the linebacking corps, which will have to operate without standout insider ‘backer Devin Bush, who will undergo knee surgery today. Tomlin says he’s confident that Robert Spillane can handle the job of replacing Bush.
One area of concern for the Steelers has been the performance of veteran punter Dustin Colquitt, whose 37.1 net average is the worst in the NFL. Colquitt may be running out of chances: The Steelers brought in former punter Jordan Berry for a tryout on Monday and also are carrying rookie punter Corliss Waitman on the practice squad.
