Indiana Borough Council will hold a public hearing tonight to collect testimony concerning a liquor license transfer request
The request comes from CAPL Retail LLC, who acquired a liquor license from West Wheatfield Township through a successful bid to the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board at a license auction. The proposed home for the new license will be the Choice Gas Station at 400 Philadelphia Street. As the license is being transferred from outside of the borough, the license transfer must be approved by borough council.
The license issue was brought up at the borough’s agenda planning session earlier this month, but there had been a mix-up at the time as to who was to get the license. Since then, borough manager C. Michael Foote said the information he received about the license going to Casa Jalisco restaurant in the 600 block of Philadelphia Street was inaccurate, as they were working on a temporary liquor license as they were in the process of getting the license transferred from the former occupant, “Off the Rocks”.
After the public hearing, Indiana Borough Council will hold their regular borough council meeting, where they will vote on whether or not to approve the license transfer. Those who want to testify in favor of or against the transfer can do so during the hearing at 6:30 PM tonight. The hearing will be held virtually through Zoom video chat.
