On Tuesday Night, the United School Board discussed a possible agreement with Verizon to help students if the district would need to go to a distance learning format.
The agreement with Verizon would allow the district to purchase data plans and equipment as a contingency plan for internet access to provide online learning should the district go to an online format, according to Superintendent Dr. Barbara Parkins.
There would be an initial fee of $60 and a $15 per month access fee per device. Parkins said that the district would use wireless hot spots for this purpose, but there is a problem.
The administration will continue to look into the contingency plan.
In other business, the district approved a revision to the district’s health and safety plan, and approved a cooperative agreement with Westmoreland County Community College for students to take dual-enrollment classes.
