Indiana Borough announced that they will hold a public hearing on zoom chat prior to their regularly scheduled meeting on October 20th. The public hearing concerns the transfer of a liquor license into the borough.
The liquor license was a point of confusion at borough council’s agenda prep session last Tuesday, October 6th. The point of confusion was where the license would be used.
On the agenda, the location listed was 400 Philadelphia Street, which is listed as Choice Gas Station. As the meeting got underway, borough manager C. Michael Foote announced that the location was incorrect, and it was for 626 Philadelphia Street, the location of Casa Jalisco Ristorante. The problem was that Casa Jalisco was in the process of getting its liquor license from the owners of the last restaurant on the property, Off the Rocks, and are operating off a temporary liquor license until that transfer is complete. That liquor license transfer does not need borough council approval, as it is a transfer within the borough.
Foote later said he was given inaccurate information and confirmed that the gas station was the destination for the license transfer.
CAPL Retail LLC is seeking the transfer of the license from West Wheatfield Township. For the transfer to go through, borough council must approve it as the license is coming from outside the borough. The hearing will be held at 6:30 PM on Zoom video chat.
