At their meeting Thursday night, the Penns Manor School Board unanimously approved awarding a high school diploma to a man who fought in World War II.
The board unanimously approved a diploma for the late Robert John Kropinak, who attended school in Clymer, but at the age of 17, before he graduated, went to serve the country in the Navy in 1943 during World War II. In his time in the military, he received the victory medal, the Asiatic-Pacific medal with one star and other awards. He passed away in 2007 in Erie.
The request came from his grandson, Steve Miller. The diploma will be awarded as part of the district’s “Operation Recognition” program.
In other business, the board approved revisions to several school board policies and accepted the resignation of Janet Vehovic as an instructional assistant.
