The third U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals approved a request from the Wolf Administration to reinstate limits on crowd sizes yesterday.
The move puts a hold on a judge’s ruling that removed limits on indoor and outdoor event attendance along with other measures that were meant to limit the spread of Covid-19. The limitations can go into effect while the Administration appeals the lower court ruling. U.S. District Judge William Stickman the 4th of Pittsburgh had ruled against the state limits last week, saying they violated the citizens’ right to assemble.
Wolf said yesterday that he applauded the decision of the court. He said that because Coronavirus is so contagious, the governor added that it’s important to limit the size of gatherings.
State Representative Jim Struzzi said he was disappointed with the decision, and questioned if the Governor really had the best interests of the state’s citizens in mind.
Wolf said that the crowd size limits will be in effect immediately. That includes high school football games for this weekend.
