Six finalists have been announced for the region to win $50,000 in grants to help with their big idea.
The Ben Franklin Big Idea contest has announced six finalists, three from Indiana County and three from Clearfield County, who are in the running for the grant money for their projects. The contest was open to tech entrepreneurs, software developers or small manufacturers in Indiana, Clearfield, Jefferson, and Cambria counties who are developing and bringing new products, processes or software applications to market. The six finalists are:
- Sarah Boyer with Antria in Indiana County, who is dedicated to developing stem cell therapies to provide patients with personalized medical care
- Sarah Pluchinsky with Nanomagnetic Electronics in Indiana County, who is developing heat-integrating sensors
- Tanvi Bharathan with Staff Atom in Indiana County, who is developing software that simplifies essential tasks for staffing agencies.
- Michael Reed with Micro Gainz in Clearfield County, who is developing micro weight plates for weightlifting exercise equipment
- Nicole Sawyers with Neonatal Loving Kare in Clearfield County, who is developing a patented, FDA approved neonatal positioning device
- Anthony Caiola of Back 40 Funding in Clearfield County, who is developing a platform to connect real estate developers with local investors using online crowdfunding.
Final judging will take place via Zoom on November 19th.
