Indiana County’s unemployment rate continues to go down as the state recovers from the Coronavirus-related unemployment spike.
The PA Department of Labor and Industry announced that Indiana County’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for August came in at 9.7 percent, which was down 2.3 percentage points from July. The statewide unemployment rate fell by a similar margin of 2.2 percentage points to 10.3 percent, and the national unemployment rate went down 1.8 percentage points to 8.4 percent.
In the region, Indiana County has the lowest unemployment rate. Jefferson and Clearfield counties have a 9.8 percent unemployment rate. Westmoreland County’s rate is 9.9 percent. Cambria County’s rate is 10.1 percent, Armstrong County’s unemployment rate is now 10.9 percent.
The total number of non-farm jobs in Indiana County went unchanged over the month and all published employment super-sectors went essentially unchanged since July.
