After the Homer-Center School District announces a shift to virtual classes for high school students next week due to Coronavirus concerns, the Marion Center school district announced the postponement of their football game against the Wildcats.
Homer-Center announced on their website that there had been four students who tested positive for Coronavirus, and Superintendent Curtis Whitesel at the time said that the shift was so their building could undergo a thorough cleaning.
The move was made after discussions with the PA Department of Health. Whitesel added at the time that this would not affect their extracurricular schedule, including Friday’s game between Homer-Center and Marion Center, but a few hours after the announcement was made, Marion Center administrators made the decision to postpone the game. Marion Center Superintendent Clint Weimer said this was done for the health and safety of their students.
No word yet on when that game will take place.
In the meantime, Whitesel reminded everyone that the one-week closure of the high school will not affect elementary students, as their classes will continue as scheduled.
