IUP will break ground for their new science and mathematics building later today in the Oak Grove.
Kopchick Hall will be the home of the John J. and Char Kopchick College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, and the new facilities will be in IUP’s Oak Grove. The 142,536 square foot facility will include over 51,000 square feet of laboratory space, including 43 research lab modules. It will also offer up 8000 square feet of classroom space and another 10,000 square feet of collaboration space. The building will also include a planetarium, imaging lab, laser lab, anatomy lab, and roof terrace with partial green roof for research efforts.
Construction will start later this year, with the goal of having faculty move in during the Summer of 2023 and students attending classes the following Fall.
Groundbreaking ceremonies will start at 4:30 this afternoon and will be streamed on IUP’s YouTube page.
