The Homer-Center school district announced on Tuesday that a student at the High School has contracted Covid-19.
In a letter sent to district parents and posted to the district’s website, High School Principal Jody Rainey said that the PA Department of Health was contacted yesterday regarding the confirmed case of Covid-19, and the Department of Health has started contact tracing efforts. District staff has assisted in those efforts to trace students who may have had close direct contact with the infected student. Parents of students who have had close contact were notified by school staff and the Department of Health will continue to follow up with those families.
Department of Health representatives have told district officials that school can continue, and they encouraged the district to adhere to their safety and mitigation efforts in reminding staff and students the importance of wearing face masks, washing hands regularly, and continuing social distancing practices. They also remind parents to continue to self-screen their children prior to sending them off to school and if they feel sick, keep them home.
