Reaction continues to come in concerning the recent veto by Governor Wolf on a bill that would allow school districts to decide if sports should be played and how many people can watch the games.
On Monday, Governor Wolf officially vetoed House Bill 2787, which would have allowed school districts to avoid the indoor event limit of 25 or less and the outdoor event limit of 250 or less and to be able to set their own limits on if sports would go on and how many people would be able to attend.
State representative Jim Struzzi said initially he was upset with Governor Wolf waiting until the last possible moment to veto the bill, but that a vote to overturn the veto in the state house will come as soon as possible.
State Senator Joe Pittman said that he weighed the possibilities of the number of Covid-19 cases among IUP students
The bill will head back to the state house. A two-thirds majority vote is needed in both the state house and senate for the veto to be overturned.
