As Indiana County’s Covid-19 count moves from moderate to substantial community transmission, United School District will be making a change on how they will hold class for their elementary students.
Students and parents were notified last week of plans to change to a hybrid format for the elementary grade levels. Students with last names that start with A through K will attend school on Monday and Thursday, and students with last names L through Z will attend on Tuesday and Friday. The other three days of the school week for each group have been set aside for remote learning. Students may have online work to complete or “paper and pencil” tasks depending on the child’s grade level and internet accessibility. This is not expected to affect the upper grade levels at United, as they will remain on their schedule. The district plans to return to face-to-face instruction on Monday, October 5th.
Another district has made an announcement concerning their education plans. Marion Center School District announced on their website that as they have not had a positive case of Covid-19 in the district, they will plan to continue operations under the current operational model, with 50 percent of their students attending every other day. Marion Center still has a goal to have all their students return to campus as soon as possible.
