The Indiana School District’s buildings and grounds committee will meet tonight and some of the discussion will focus on a contract to hire lifeguards for the junior high pool.
The board tabled the contract at their meeting last Monday, not because of any problems with the YMCA lifeguards, but with the safety of the students taking swim classes. Board member Tamara Leeper said that she was concerned for the health and safety of those using the junior high locker rooms and the pool itself. Other board members said that they wanted to see the contract approved immediately, as there was a provision that allowed the district to cancel the agreement at any time should the pool not be used for educational purposes.
The contract was expected to start today, but aside from a special meeting to approve it, the contract will be up for approval at its meeting on September 28th.
