The Catholic Diocese of Greensburg has appointed Monsignor Larry J. Kulick to serve as diocesan administrator until Pope Francis names a new bishop.
Kulick was chosen yesterday by the College of Consultors, an advisory group made up of priests. He is currently the pastor of St. James Parish in New Alexandria. He was ordained in 1992 and has served as a deacon at St. Thomas More in Indiana, in 1991 and 1992, and as the pastor of the Church of the Good Shepherd in Kent, from 1997 to 2002.
In 2012, he was appointed vicar general under Bishop Lawrence E. Brandt, and upon Brandt’s retirement, he continued in the post under Bishop Edward C. Malesik, who was appointed this summer to become bishop of the Diocese of Cleveland. The vicar general serves as administrative assistant to the bishop, and as liaison to the various departments and parishes within the diocese.
In 2018, Kulick stepped in for Malesic to lead the “listening tour” stop at St. Bernard of Clairvaux in Indiana examining sexual abuse by priests after Malesic suffered a mild heart attack.
