At Wednesday’s meeting, the Indiana County Commissioners approved a request of funding for the construction of a new warehouse at the county’s public safety academy.
The warehouse will be added on to current space leased by the county, and will be used for storage of personal protective equipment required for the county’s continued response to the Covid-19 Pandemic, according to Emergency Management Director Tom Stutzman.
The cost of the project is $230,940, and will be funded through CARES act money.
In other business, the commissioners approved a Criminal Justice Advisory Board grant from the PA Commission on Crime and Deliquency for $75,666 to provide equipment to help with the safety of witnesses, victims and court employees. The commissioners also approved a memorandum of understanding to add Cambria and Mercer counties to the Inter-County Regional Radio System. The move will provide the public safety radio network to nine counties.
