The Pirates pulled off an improbable comeback against Cincinnati’s closer yesterday.
Cole Tucker scored on a sacrifice fly to complete a two-run ninth inning, as the Pirates won, 3-2.
The Pirates are off today. They will host the Chicago White Sox on Tuesday. Joe Musgrove looks for his first win of the season. He’s 0-4 and will be throwing his second game since missing about a month on the injured list.
Pirates’ GM Ben Cherington says outfielder Anthony Alford’s broken elbow is a“very clean” break, and he should be ready to go for spring training. Alford was lost for the season on Saturday night when he ran into the wall in center field at PNC Park, on a ball that cleared the fence for a home run. Cole Tucker and Jason Martin will play center for the Pirates for the rest of this season.
