Ke’Bryan Hayes made a big splash in his Major League debut last night, but the Pirates lost in extras to the Cubs. Pittsburgh lost, 8-7, in 11 innings.

Joe Musgrove will return from the injured list and make the start for the Pirates in the second game of the series tonight. The Bucs’ Opening Day starter is 0-and-3 with a 6.75 ERA and has been on the injured list with a sore triceps and ankle injury since August 4th. He’ll go against Kyle Hendricks, who is 3-and-4 with a 4.09 ERA. The airtime is 6:40 on WCCS.
Robert Murray of The Athletic reported yesterday that the Pirates came close to trading Musgrove to Toronto on Monday. Atlanta was also reported to be interested in Musgrove, who could be moved by the Pirates in the off-season.
