After taking a beating against the White Sox on Tuesday and Wednesday, the Pirates buckled down and took two from the Cardinals yesterday.

The Pirates will play four games against the Brewers. Derek Holland takes the mound for the Bucs, while the Brewers will send out Corbin Burnes.
The Pirates’ roster shuffle continued yesterday, with the trade deadline coming on Monday. The Bucs put reliever Keone Kela and infielder Colin Moran on the injured list. Kela left last Friday’s game with a forearm strain and is on the ten-day IL. Moran was injured in a collision on Sunday and is in the seven-day concussion IL. Right-handed reliever Nick Mears returns to the Pirates from Altoona to replace Kela, while former first-round draft pick Will Craig was recalled and started at first base in the first game of the doubleheader yesterday, going 0-for-3 with a deep flyout to left-center, and a couple of nice defensive plays.
The Bucs also claimed 26-year-old outfielder Anthony Alford off waivers from Toronto. He hit .188 with one homer and three RBI in sixteen at-bats over thirteen games for the Blue Jays this year.
