The WPIAL board of directors yesterday announced a deadline of September 1st for schools to notify them if they are opting out of fall sports. The Indiana Area school board voted last night, 7-0, to play. Uniontown has voted to not play football and soccer and Summit Academy has declined to play its only two fall sports, football and boys golf.
The WPIAL voted on a playoff format for football. They’ll have five teams in Class 6A, 12 in 5A, 14 in 4A, 12 in 3A, 16 in 2A, and 15 in 1A. Indiana plays in 4A Section 2 with Armstrong, Greensburg Salem, Hampton, Highlands, Knoch, Mars, and Plum. Derry will play in 3A. Apollo Ridge and Ligonier Valley will play in 2A.
